Chalo Chatu: Editorial Team

The Chalo Chatu Editorial Team is responsible for ensuring that all content published on Chalo Chatu meets the platform’s standards for accuracy, neutrality, and national relevance. The team operates under the authority of the Chalo Chatu Foundation Board of Trustees and applies the platform’s editorial policies across all Chalo Chatu projects.

The Editorial Team exists to:

Composition

The Editorial Team is made up of:

  • Editors: Experienced contributors who review submissions for factual accuracy and style.
  • Senior Editors: Editors with extended rights who may approve complex or sensitive content.
  • Editorial Board Members: Appointed by the Chalo Chatu Foundation Board of Trustees to oversee policy enforcement and resolve disputes.

Responsibilities

The Editorial Team’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Screening new articles for compliance with editorial guidelines.
  • Fact-checking information against reliable sources.
  • Assessing notability and relevance to Zambia.
  • Ensuring oral history submissions follow Chalo Chatu:Oral History Policy procedures.
  • Approving, rejecting, or returning submissions for revision.
  • Training and mentoring new contributors.
  • Coordinating with technical administrators on content protection where needed.

Authority

The Editorial Team has the authority to:

  • Approve or reject article submissions.
  • Remove content that violates Chalo Chatu policies.
  • Enforce editorial decisions in line with Chalo Chatu:Editorial Review Policy.
  • Recommend policy updates to the Foundation Board.

Accountability

All editors are expected to:

  • Act in accordance with Chalo Chatu’s mission and values.
  • Maintain neutrality and avoid personal bias in editorial decisions.
