Mpundu Buseko Mwape is a noted Zambian television producer and broadcaster, best known for creating and hosting Lima Time, an influential agricultural programme aired on the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC).

Career

Mwape joined the National Agricultural Information Services (NAIS), an agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, in 1985, where he began producing agricultural radio shows in Bemba.[1]

He later transitioned to television, becoming the face and producer of Lima Time on ZNBC. The weekly Sunday evening programme became essential viewing for farmers, offering expert farming advice, demonstrating new techniques and promoting agritech adoption. Mwape gained widespread recognition and influenced national agricultural practices through his engaging presentation style.[2]

After over 35 years of service, Mwape retired in June 2020 upon reaching the national retirement age of 60.[3]

Personal life

Mwape is married with eight children. His dedication stemmed from early inspirations, including BBC and ZNBC personalities. His oratory and live production skills made him a sought-after MC and poet at public events.[4]

Legacy and impact

Regarded as an icon in agricultural communication, Lima Time under Mwape’s stewardship became synonymous with farm technology education in Zambia. Colleagues credit him with transforming NAIS’s public presence and making agritech information accessible nationwide.[5]
