This framework outlines the structure, mandate, and responsibilities of the Chalo Chatu editorial and verification authority.

Purpose and Mandate

The Review and Verification Board (RVB) is the central authority responsible for:

• Overseeing the editorial direction of Chalo Chatu
• Approving content before it is published
• Validating sources, including oral history and developing news
• Ensuring that all information aligns with the platform’s mission, editorial policy, and ethical standards

Composition

The RVB is composed of individuals appointed by the Chalo Chatu leadership, including:

• Senior editors with experience in writing and historical documentation
• Subject-matter experts (e.g. history, geography, culture, politics, language)
• Field researchers and oral historians
• Technical reviewers with experience in metadata, digital archiving, and licensing

Roles and Responsibilities

Senior Editors

• Lead content review and maintain overall consistency in tone, neutrality, and accuracy
• Make final approval decisions before an article goes live
• Flag content for review or improvement

Subject Experts

• Provide deep insight on specialised topics such as traditional customs, military history, national governance, etc.
• Cross-check claims with secondary or community-approved oral sources

Field Agents and Oral Historians

• Collect first-hand and oral testimonies from local sources
• Submit properly logged interview notes, audio, or transcripts
• Ensure that oral narratives are cross-verified or community-backed

Verification Officers

• Assess the credibility of sources submitted, especially digital media (social media posts, images, WhatsApp broadcasts)
• Confirm whether government pages or officials are verified/authentic
• Manage flagged content for investigation

Review Process

All content must pass through the following review stages:

1. Initial Draft Submission by authorised contributor
2. Internal Review by assigned editor
3. Verification Check by verification officer or researcher
4. Board Approval for publishing
5. Post-Publish Review within 30 days to confirm completeness
