Chalo Chatu:Content Inclusion Guidelines
This guideline outlines the criteria for article eligibility and content relevance on Chalo Chatu.
Scope of Coverage
Chalo Chatu documents subjects that reflect the social, political, cultural, geographical, and historical identity of Zambia. These include:
- Notable individuals (living or deceased)
- Government institutions, traditional leadership, and local governance
- Events (past, ongoing, and developing)
- Towns, villages, compounds, wards, and provinces
- Schools, hospitals, clinics, churches, monuments, parks
- Festivals, customs, beliefs, ceremonies
- Sports teams, leagues, and players
- Businesses, cooperatives, and industries with national/regional impact
- Civil unrest, protests, disasters, and historical conflicts
- Innovations, technologies, and Zambian inventions
- Cultural artefacts and oral narratives
Article Eligibility
Articles must meet one or more of the following conditions:
- The subject has made an impact on Zambian society or its diaspora.
- The subject is recognised within a local community as historically or culturally significant.
- The subject is documented through newspapers, official sources, books, or validated oral tradition.
- The subject is part of a developing story directly affecting Zambians.
Oral History Inclusion
Chalo Chatu recognises oral history as a legitimate and necessary source, especially in areas where written documentation is lacking. The following criteria apply:
- Must be based on at least two independent accounts or a credible elder/traditional authority.
- Must be tagged with

and include a description of how the information was obtained. - Should be reviewed by the Editorial Board or an assigned historian before publication.
Current Events and On-the-Ground Documentation
- Articles about protests, political statements, natural disasters, or community developments may be documented as they happen.
- These articles should be marked as

- Media such as photos, social media statements by officials, and eyewitness summaries are encouraged for accuracy and archiving.
Exclusions
Articles or subjects that will not be accepted include:
- Personal opinions or blog-style storytelling
- Unfounded conspiracy theories
- Gossip or defamatory content about private individuals
- Promotional material for private businesses or politicians
- Content copied from other websites without proper licensing or citation
Required Article Structure
Every article must contain:
- A clear lead section summarising the subject
- A structured body with factual, chronological, or thematic sections
- A list of sources, including print, oral, or digital
- Infobox and categories, where applicable
Media and Visual Content
Images and videos used must:
- Be original or openly licensed (Creative Commons, Public Domain)
- Have appropriate captions and context
- Reflect the dignity and relevance of the subject
Updates and Deletions
- Editors may revise or update articles as new information becomes available.
- Articles may be deleted if they are found to be hoaxes, plagiarised, or in breach of editorial policy.
- Archived versions are retained for transparency.
