The Anglican Diocese of Lusaka is one of the dioceses of the Church of the Province of Central Africa and serves the capital city of Zambia, Lusaka, and surrounding areas. The diocese is headquartered at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross, which is also the seat of the bishop.
History
The diocese was formally established in 1971, carved out of what was then part of a larger diocesan structure in Central Africa. The creation of the Diocese of Lusaka reflected the growing number of Anglicans in the capital and the need for dedicated pastoral oversight.[1]
Leadership
The diocese has been led by several bishops since its establishment. As of 2025, the bishop is the Rt. Rev. David Njovu, who has served since 2003. He is known for promoting ecumenism, education, and social justice.[2]
Structure and Parishes
The Diocese of Lusaka encompasses numerous parishes across the city and peri-urban areas, serving thousands of Anglicans. Some of the prominent parishes include:
