Kabinga Jacus Pande (born 5 March 1952) is a Zambian politician who has held significant positions in the government, including serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Tourism, Environment, and Natural Resources.

Early life and education

Kabinga Pande was born on 5 March 1952. He pursued education that equipped him for a diverse career, earning Cambridge 'O' levels, a Diploma in Business English, a Diploma in Journalism, a Higher Diploma in Public Relations, and an MBA. His professional background includes work as a journalist and business administrator.[1]

Political career

Pande is a member of the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) and represented the Kasempa constituency in the National Assembly of Zambia. He was first elected as Member of Parliament for Kasempa in 2001 and was re-elected in subsequent elections.[2]

In August 2007, Pande was appointed as Zambia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, succeeding Mundia Sikatana.[3] Before this, he served as Minister of Tourism, Environment, and Natural Resources, where he worked to promote Zambia's tourism sector and environmental conservation efforts.

As Foreign Minister, Pande played a key role in shaping Zambia's foreign policy and representing the country in international affairs. He held this position until 2011, when the MMD lost power to the Patriotic Front (PF) in government, and he was succeeded by Chishimba Kambwili.[4]

Personal life

Kabinga Pande is married and enjoys game viewing, traveling, and reading.[5]
