Hakainde Hichilema assumed office as President of Zambia on 24 August 2021. The President has the authority to nominate members of his Cabinet to the Zambian parliament according to the Constitution of Zambia. Article 92. (2) (d) of The Constitution of Zambia empowers the President to establish, merge and dissolve Government Ministries and Departments.
