The 2017 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations final was a football match that took place on 12 March 2017 at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, Zambia to determine the 2017 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations champion. The final was contested by Zambia and Senegal. Zambia won the match 2–0, winning title for the first time. Daka and Chilufya became the record goalscorer at the 2017 tournament together with South African Striker Luther Singh with 4 goals each.

Before the match, Zambia had only reached the U20 Africa Cup of nation's fourth place three times ( 1991 , 1999 , 2007 ). Senegal had reached one finals and came out as runners-up

Background

This was the first appearance in the final for Zambia. Zambia won all the group stage matches. It started with a victory against Guinea followed by two wins against Mali and Egypt. In the semi-finals Zambia defeated South Africa[1]


This was the second appearance for Sanegal in finals of the tournament. Sanegal in the last final lost to Nigeria.

Summary

The final was played on 12 March 2017 at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka. Zambia defeated the Senegal 2–0. The win gave Zambia its first title of the U20 Africa cup title and they also became the first host to win the title in the history of the tournament.

Zambia scored two first half goals through Patson Daka and Edward Chilufya
