Zambian Music Blog is a Zambian based website for music, videos and all sorts of entertainment and also provides professional online based advertisements.[2] The website is devoted to the best talent and most exciting developments in the world of music and entertainment in Zambia and other African countries. The website contains menu sections such as Editorial which is sub divided into Reviews and Fashion, the music section has three sub sections Gospel Music, Lyrics and Album/Mixtape. A Video section and an Artists Profiles section.

In 2014 the website was named among the top 5 most used websites in Zambia [3] after been nominated by the Zambia Music Board community.

Over the time it has been ranked as high as 236,335 [4] in the world, while most of its traffic comes from Zambia, where it reached as high as 85 [1] position.

History

The website was launched on 10 May 2011 by Philip Mutika, who maintained it as a personal blog site. The website was brought down in 2012 due to high traffic when it shared a link to Mampi's song. The website was later reopened in 2013 on a new domain zambianmusicblog.co [without the final "m" on the end of the URL]. After reopening on a new domain the website returned its status after they posted JK's song tiled Paduze. JK shared the link [5] to his song from the website and 2 months later it got its original status back.

Many artists have appreciated Zambian Music Blog for taking Zambian Music beyond borders whilst other artists have criticized Zambian Music Blog for destroying the Zambian Music Industry. For example, in 2015 Petersen Zagaze e-mailed the website to remove all of his Music/Content from the website [6] one month to the release of his King Solomon Album and he publicly posted on Facebook that he is against bloggers.
