The ZedWiki Podcast is an official Chalo Chatu project developed in collaboration with the Wikimedia Community User Group Zambia. Officially launched on 1 October 2025, the podcast extends Chalo Chatu’s mission of documenting Zambia’s history, culture, and heritage by transforming written knowledge from the encyclopedia into engaging audio storytelling.
This project aims to amplify Zambian voices and make the nation’s collective memory more accessible through sound. Each episode is drawn from verified Chalo Chatu articles and other open knowledge sources, presenting Zambia’s people, places, traditions, football, and creative arts in an authentic and educational format that resonates with local and global audiences alike.
The first episode of the podcast featured the Embassy Park Presidential Burial Site as its spotlight topic, underscoring Chalo Chatu’s commitment to preserving national heritage. Hosted by Blueprint from Lusaka and produced with sound engineering by Lewis, the ZedWiki Podcast maintains a professional yet relatable tone, blending cultural storytelling with factual documentation.
As a Chalo Chatu project, the ZedWiki Podcast also serves as a public outreach and educational platform, showcasing Zambia’s active participation in the global Wikimedia movement. It promotes national engagement in initiatives such as Wiki Loves Africa, Wiki Loves Earth, and other Wikimedia campaigns that highlight Zambia’s heritage and environment.
